Range of Motion metrics are calculated as the maximum distance (in degrees) that a limb or segment moves during a test.  Range of Motion metrics are calculated as follows:

  • Angle between forearm and horizontal on the sagittal plane

  • Forearm = Elbow to Wrist

Hip Adduction/Abduction

Knee Flexion/Extension

  • Angle between femur and lower leg 
  • 3D angle
  • Femur = Knee to Hip
  • Lower Leg = Knee to Ankle
  • Straight leg is 0°
  • Flexion = +ve
Ankle Dorsiflexion/Plantarflexion

  • Angle between vertical and orientation of shank (IMU) (Relies on foot being flat on ground)
  • 3D Angle
  • Shank orientation = Ankle IMU orientation 
  • Vertical = 0°
  • Anterior tilt = +ve
Knee Valgus/Varus
