Understanding HumanTrak Metrics: Balance and Tilt

Balance Lines are drawn across the individual during certain tests to show the alignment of their body against perfectly horizontal and vertical lines.  Balance Lines are calculated as follows:

Head Balance

  • Angle between the vertical and neck/head line in the frontal plane
  • Frontal plane projection 
  • Head = Head to Neck
  • Vertical is 0°
Shoulder Balance

  • Angle between the horizontal and line of shoulders in the frontal plane
  • Frontal plane projection
  • Line of shoulders = ShoulderLeft to ShoulderRight
  • Horizontal is 0°
  • Leaning 10° on the left side (left shoulder is lower) reports a value of 10° L
Hip Balance

  • Angle between the horizontal and line of hips in the frontal plane
  • Frontal plane projection
  • Hip = HipLeft to HipRight
  • Horizontal is 0°
  • Leaning 10° on the left side (left hip is lower) reports a value of 10° L
